I had been wanting to try Crossfit for a few years and just never had the courage to try. I would really only do cardio and Zumba. I had just started taking a body pump at Heroes, when Basin CrossFit  hosted a Wine &  WOD event. Liz, who was already a member at Basin,  had invited me to try the Wine & WOD.  Honestly, I really like what the Coach had to say about Crossfit and how it changes your body. I saw how she had such strong muscular thighs/quads and knew that’s what my body type could look like if I started lifting.
When I feel like quitting, my motivation is seeing how much stronger I have become and wanting to see that number rise. For example, I think a year ago I could barely do a 85 pound back squat maybe, and I just did 160pounds a few weeks ago. Since starting at Basin CrossFit, and more specifically, since March I was able to turn a 12+ minute mile run into a 9:26 mile (not on a treadmill regulating my pace! Lol 🙂 )
I’ve had two compliments on my legs just this week alone and how much better they look in shorts. My overall body has changed completely!! Traveling for work lately,  I’ll run into people I haven’t seen in awhile and I get so many compliments on how good I look and that’s keeping me motivated to keep working out because other people can see the difference even if I can’t anymore.
My starting goals were honestly to lose weight, 30 to 40 pounds, and that’s all I cared about. But I’ve learned that the scale doesn’t always move, and when I get down on myself , Coach Jimmy reminds me that “hey, you just bought smaller clothes. Just because the scale isn’t moving doesn’t mean anything. You’re building muscle.”  Since January 2016, I have lost about 21-25 pounds, and I’ve gone from a size 12 jean to a 7/8. I also wore a swimsuit and went to the river for the first time in like 8 years or something crazy. I haven’t had the confidence to do that in so long.

    I would love to give this a try, I’m ready for a change. I’ve been in and out of the gym for two years, I can’t seem to find self motivation or a correct workout. I’ve cut out a lot of unhealthy eating and am ready to make a commitment to a better life style for a healthier me. Please send me more info on how to get started.

      Ranielle! The groups filled up fast for this challenge! The only spots we have available are for the 8am and 11am groups on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. If either of these times work for you then we can still get you in this challenge! If not, then we still have options available to get you started! It’s basically an opportunity for you to meet with one of our certified CrossFit coaches, check out our gym and find a time and program that will work best for you!
